About Me

I jointed Millville Fire Company in 1975 and have been a volunteer fire company member at several departments.  Although I have lived all over the world and never in one place for too long, I always consider Millville home.  I currently live in Berryville Virginia and am the President of John H. Enders Fire and Rescue Company  www.endersfire.com    I work in the insurance industry and hope my day to day actions help people get back on their feet after a loss.

About Me

Greetings! My name is Christopher Heiss. I’ve been an active member of the Millville Community Fire Company since January 2006 where I had joined in my 11th grade year of high school. I’m a natural thrill seeker and, as with almost any active firefighter/EMS provider, I found that joining a local fire company would provide the new adventure that I was looking for in life.

Upon joining the fire company, I found myself captivated within the fire house family that helped set my eyes on the profession that I wanted to pursue. The MCFC provided a great educational opportunity for me during my later high school years as well as creating a focus towards the great career pathway that my future held. Soon after becoming a junior member, I began to respond on ambulance calls throughout the community. In June 2006, I became an Emergency Medical Technician and within a few months of exposure, I knew I was destined to turn this involvement into a profession.

My next adventure in life was taking experience to the next level – becoming a paramedic. In 2007, I became enrolled at the Pennsylvania College of Technology where I began to pursue this educational endeavor. I moved to the Williamsport region where I functioned as a station live-in member at the Willing Hand Hose Company #1, Inc. (Montoursville Fire Department) which was one of the best life experiences I’ve yet to acquire. For two solid years, I found myself progressing through the paramedic program, working part-time as an EMT at The Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center (Susquehanna Regional EMS), and fulfilling my live-in obligations as a volunteer EMT at the fire department in which I lived. This was one of the most difficult (yet fulfilling) two years of my life and I am very fortunate to have acquired this experience.

In August 2009, I graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Technology with an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services and within a few days of graduating, I became a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Since the completion of the program, I have found myself working as Registered Paramedic throughout the northeastern Pennsylvania region. I’m a full-time paramedic at Evangelical Community Hospital (as well as part-time at Susquehanna Regional EMS and Greater Columbia Medical Transport Services). I have acquired credentials as a Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) and Critical Care Transport (CCEMT-P) – as well as multiple instructor certifications in basic and advanced cardiac life support (adult, pediatric, and neonatal). At this point in my career, I am actively pursuing a career as a full-time Flight Paramedic with a air medical service in the region.

To this date, I continue to be involved as an active member of the MCFC. Although my busy career does not allow me to be available as much as I’d like, I continue to appreciate the experience that I’ve acquired from the department as well as actively contribute to the operational service that makes the MCFC a premier service in the county.
